Sharkman Mike Rutzen
May 22 - 28, 2011
We had a very special week with Mike Rutzen from Shark Diving Unlimited in South Africa. Not only did we have four days and countless hours with the Oceanic Whitetips, but our favorite shark Miranda graced us with her presence again. We also had a more Blacktips and Caribbean Reef sharks. Finally, to end the season, we had two days with blue sharks.
Having a couple of Oceanics and a Blue was a real treat! After about an hour though, Miranda had enough and the two sharks squared off. It was a tense and amazing moment, but Miranda asserted her dominance and the Blue took off in retreat.
The following day, a different Blue swam up the slick first, and stayed with us for a few hours. During that time, more Oceanics had arrived!

May 15 - 21, 2011
We had and epic week with Oceanic Whitetips all five days. During the long in water encounters, guests also saw Blue Marlin, Reef sharks and Blacktips. Several of the encounters occurred over the reef, making for great photo opportunities.

On a few of the days, we had long encounters with a special Oceanic that Daniel and the group named Miranda. She was a pleasure to swim with, as she was gentle, bold, and adorned with 5 pilot fish.

Big Fish Photography Expeditions
May 8 - 14, 2011
Photo Pro Andy Murch and a group of seasoned shark divers joined us for a great week of action. Although we had a few slow days, we spent over 12 hours with the whitetips. Toward the end of the week, guests were thrilled to see a few Blue and White Marlin. We also had a couple of photogenic Dorado stick around for a while.

Amanda Cotton Photo Workshop
May 1 - 7, 2011
This year, Epic Diving hosted a photography workshop with Photo Pro Amanda Cotton. Her imagery has been published around the world in various publications including National Geographic, Discovery, Times Publishing, Ocean Geographic, Natural History Magazine, Science Daily, as well as many international advertising campaigns. Attendees certainly benefited from her expertise and their shark photography skills improved as the week went on.
We spent long hours in the water with the Whitetips. Besides the Oceanics, guests also had the chance to swim with Reef, Nurse, and Lemon sharks and a few lucky ones saw the juvenile Tiger come through (it wasn't long before the Oceanics scared her off!).

Epic Diving photo pro Amanda Cotton will be joining us again in 2012 for what is sure to be another amazing photo workshop. Contact Us or A Cotton Photo for more information
